چکیده
A diverse suite of erosional features along the shoreline Lehtma (Hiiumaa Island, Estonia) is used to assess their morphodynamic context and preservation potential. The Holocene strandplain east-facing (leeward) has experienced rapid retreat due anthropogenically induced sediment deficit. study site located just updrift erosional-depositional fulcrum segment, with southerly longshore transport resulting in accumulation eroded sand a drift-aligned spit. most prominent indicators are mature pine trees different stages undercutting, toppling, fragmentation, burial. Morphological include scarps paleo-beach/dune ridges (height: > 1 m), as well modern berm scarps. Mineralogical exemplified by heavy-mineral concentrations (HMCs) variable thickness (some 2 cm) concentration. Representative samples show substantial increase bulk low-field magnetic susceptibility ranging from < 10 µSI common nearby coastal lithosomes 8,000 second-cycle HMCs within enrichment zones. conceptual morphosedimentary model describing recent current state system, potential specific structures recognition geological research (e.g., georadar signatures buried HMCs) proposed. approach presented this can be distribution Baltic Sea coast mineralogically heterogeneous, forested sandy shorelines worldwide.

Erosional variability along the northwest Himalaya
[1] Erosional exhumation and topography in mountain belts are temporally and spatially variable over million year timescales because of changes in both the location of deformation and climate. We investigate spatiotemporal variations in exhumation across a 150 250 km compartment of the NW Himalaya, India. Twenty-four new and 241 previously published apatite and zircon fission track and white mi...
متن کاملEcological Succession Pattern of Fungal Community in Soil along a Retreating Glacier
Accelerated by global climate changing, retreating glaciers leave behind soil chronosequences of primary succession. Current knowledge of primary succession is mainly from studies of vegetation dynamics, whereas information about belowground microbes remains unclear. Here, we combined shifts in community assembly processes with microbial primary succession to better understand mechanisms govern...

The erosional response of calcareous soils along a climatological gradient in Alicante, SE Spain was studied. The erosional response was defined in terms of indicators obtained from field rainfall simulation experiments and laboratory studies of soil aggregation. Measurements were made at seven sites on limestones and marls between Benidorm with an y1 Ž y1. annual average rainfall of 400 mm yr ...
